How about a new tune from The Ocean? The German sludge/post-metallers recently recorded a new song for a split release with post-rock innovators Mono. Titled Transcendental, the EP will be available on October 23rd through Pelagic Records (the label formed by The Ocean guitarist/vocalist Robin Staps). The Ocean - Announce Split EP With Mono

German sludge metallers from The Ocean just announced the upcoming release of a split EP with post-rock giants Mono. The EP will be titled Transcendental and contain one new song by each band, 13-minutes long "The Quiet Observer" by the Germans and 11-minutes long "Death In Reverse" by the Japanese. The worldwide release date for the EP is set to October 23rd via Pelagic Records.

Sólstafir - Announce European Tour With The Ocean And Mono

Icelandic post-metal band Sólstafir has announced an European tour together with the German sludge metal band The Ocean and the Japanese post-rock band Mono. The tour will take place in October/November. Check out the tour dates and venues below! Tickets can be bought right here. However, it would appear that drummer Guðmundur Óli Pálmason will not be joining the band as he released a statement today claiming he was forced out of the band. The Ocean - Stream Live Clip

The Ocean are streaming a live clip from their recently released Collective Oblivion DVD. The clip is from the band's Hong Kong stop on their tour across China, which is prominently featured in the DVD documentary. You can now watch here the band perform "The City In The Sea" from the 2005 album Aeolian. The band's latest album, Pelagial, won in the Best Post-Metal Album category at Metal Storm Awards 2013.

The Ocean - Announce Co-Headlining North American Tour With Scale The Summit

Germans The Ocean will be returning to North America in 2014 for a co-headlining run with Prosthetic Records artist Scale The Summit and special guests The Atlas Moth and Silver Snakes. The tour kicks off on March 5th in Seattle, WA, and wraps up on March 30th in Cambridge, MA, including two dates scheduled in Austin, TX for SXSW Festival. All confirmed dates can be seen below.

The Ocean - German Tour Confirmed

Germans The Ocean were very busy this year. New album release in April - Pelegial, and promoting this release with touring all over the world. In recent days they have also confirmed that they will be heading to an exclusive 10-day German tour in the end of February, 2014. The Ocean - Announce New Guitarist

The Ocean have been going through many line-up changes lately. Guitarist Jonathan Nido and drummer Luc Hess announced they were leaving the band and now a new guitar player has been revealed. Damian Murdoch will be The Ocean's new guitarist for all upcoming shows and tours next year. Jonathan Nido and Luc Hess' last show was in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The Ocean - Jonathan Nido And Luc Hess Leaving After Current Tour

Following a statement from his Facebook page, it has been announced that guitarist Jonathan Nido and drummer Luc Hess will leave The Ocean after their current European tour with Shining (NOR), Hacride and Tides From Nebula. The reasons include "artistic divergence", full-time commitment to a project which is not fulfilling anymore, among other things. Both of them, alongside bassist Louis Jucker, are part of the project Coilguns as well.

The Ocean have unveiled the trailer for their first ever DVD that will be called Collective Oblivion. This is something the band has been teasing for quite a while. The Ocean - Release Excerpt From 'Pelagial' DVD

The Ocean have recently revealed an excerpt from their Pelagial DVD. The DVD, which is being screened as live video projections during the band's current Pelagial world tour, is a conceptual movie by Craig Murray, known for his work with Nine Inch Nails, Converge, etc. This movie, which offers up a year's worth of meticulous shooting, cutting and editing, visualizes the journey into the depths and completes the holistic music and visual art project that defines the Pelagial concept.
